Rule approved by the Pickaway County Senior Fair Board..2/14/09:
New policy for all chicken and turkey projects
- Every chicken and turkey project, both market and breeding, must have a pollorum validation form. This can be either:
- A form 9-3 from the hatchery stating it participates in a certified NPIP program or
- A form 9-2 from a certified pollorum tester stating they have tested your project and they are pollorum free.
Refer to the Pickaway County Fair website for examples of the forms: www.pickawaycountyfair.org
- If a 4-H or FFA club does a group buy of chickens and/or turkeys, the following steps must be followed to meet Ohio Poultry Association (OPA) and Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) requirements:
- 4-H/FFA Advisor must provide a copy of the hatchery 9-3 form to each member receiving chicks/turkeys from the order.
- 4-H/FFA Advisor must write a letter containing the member’s name and the number of chicks/turkeys received from the hatchery order.
- 4-H/FFA Advisor must maintain a copy of the hatchery 9-3 form and letter(s) given to the members for at least one year; in the event, the OPA and/or ODA need additional information.
- Every 4-H/FFA member must provide a copy of either a form 9-3 or a 9-2 and letter from 4-H/FFA Advisor (if a group buy) prior to entering the fairgrounds with their chicken or turkey project for the 2009 Pickaway County Fair. This and the animal(s) must be presented at Gate B prior to entering the fairgrounds during one of the following time periods:
- Saturday, June 20, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. or
- Sunday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
At check-in time, each 4-H and/or FFA member will be required to sign a liability waiver (example here) stating that they have not co-mingled their project with existing chickens/turkeys at their residence and they have adhered to proper biosecurity guidelines. Refer to the following website for additional information: USDA
No chicken and/or turkey projects will be permitted on the grounds or allowed to exhibit without adhering to the above policy. No exceptions.
- This does not apply to ducks or geese (waterfowl).
New process for Drug Use Notification Forms (DUNF):
As in previous years, Drug Use Notification Forms (DUNF) will be required for:
- Market Steers
- Market Hogs
- Market Sheep

New for the 2009 Pickaway County Fair,

No Drug Use Notification Forms should be taken to the scales.
Be sure to check:
- The form is complete; name, address, species, tag #, scrapies tag # (applies to market ewes only), animal description, etc..
